Get in the holiday spirit with a stroll through the auditorium to view the beautifully decorated trees and find yourself humming along to live holiday music. Santa will make a special appearance and be available for photo ops. Reindeer snacks, aka light refreshments, will be served.
The Festival of Trees is a free, annual holiday CFAY tradition that's not to be missed. Commands will decorate more than 40 trees for the community's enjoyment while competing for the title of The Best Tree 2023. Be sure to cast your vote!

General FAQs
- • Who is allowed to attend this event?
- All DoD and host nation ID cardholders of all ages. All personnel will still be required to show proper identification to access the base. Base access rules apply.
- • Who can vote?
- Any guest attending the event can vote.
- • Can I vote multiple times?
- Yes.
- • Will there be food and beverages?
- Complimentary light refreshments will be available during this event.
- • Do I have to pay for the Santa photos?
- No fee is required for photos with Santa.
- • Will there be restrooms available?
- Yes. Restrooms will be available within the facility.
- • Is smoking permitted?
- No Smoking permitted at this event. Please smoke outside event area.
- • Can I take one of the trees home?
- A tree raffle will be available. Please visit the MWR info booth to learn more on the event day on how to enter. Tree winners will be announced on at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 10 at the event.
- • If we win a tree how do we pick it up?
- One (1x) tree per winner. Pickup dates for trees are 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday & Tuesday, December 11 - 12 at the C-2 Auditorium. You are required to provide you own transport of the tree. Staff will be available to help you load your tree into your vehicle.
- • Will parking be available?
- Parking will be available in the surrounding areas.
- • Are pets allowed?
- While we love animals, pets are not allowed at this event, except for designated service animals.
- • Will there be a shuttle bus available?
- No shuttle service will be provided for this event.
- • Is there dress code for this event?
- There is no dress code for the general event. Since there is an opportunity for photos with Santa, please feel free to come in your holiday best.
- • What should I do in case of a lost child/parent?
- Please make an MWR Staff member aware. MWR staff will notify appropriate parties for retrieval.
- • Is there an emergency phone number?
- Yes. If you are calling from a base land-line, please dial 911. If you are calling from a portable device, please dial 046-816-5000.
- • Contraband:
- I. No items may be left unattended at any time.
- II. Personnel who do not wish to have their baggage checked will be turned away. This includes persons carrying large bags, backpacks, etc.
- III. No sealed bags or articles unable to be opened will be allowed onto the installation.
- IV. Should any guests be found to have in their possession knives, razors, or other small, yet inherently dangerous instruments, they will be turned over to Japanese police for adjudication.
- V. Glass bottles are not authorized. Any containers which are not sealed will be discarded with the exception of baby formula which will be inspected to ensure the contents are not harmful.
- VI. Spray paint is not authorized.
- VII. All other contraband will be brought to the attention of Police.
- VIII. Distribution of commercial flyers or display of banners will require immediate notification to the SECO/ASECO/CPOIC. The flyers and/or banners will be confiscated and the offender will be identified and released to Police for removal.
- IX. No form of electronic/radiological monitoring equipment.
- X. Bicycles, roller blades, and skateboards are prohibited for all event attendees – guests and DoD ID cardholders.
