2024 Festival of Trees Santa, Live Music, Holiday Tree Decoration Competition

Saturday, December 14 & 15 • Noon - 5 p.m.
C-2 Auditorium (Command Hill)

Enjoy viewing Christmas trees decorated by base commands and local groups and show your appreciation by voting for your favorite trees! We will have live music, light refreshments and a special guest from the North Pole!
REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration Dates: Monday, November 25 @ 10 a.m. - Friday, December 6 @ 6 p.m.
Registrations are to be completed in person at the MWR Tickets & Travel office (Bldg. 1559). Registration will be closed once we hit our capacity or meet the deadline, whichever comes first.
 
EVENT FAQS

• Who is allowed to participate in the festival as a contender?
Currently open to all Commands, Private Organizations and Home based businesses. Must be CFAY approved to participate. See above for registration information.

• Our command would like to participate. How do we become CFAY approved?
No approval needed from CFAY. Just a letter from your commanding officer approving you to participate on behalf of the command. Letter must include commanding officer’s name, command name, rank, contact number and signature (digital or print).

• What is the registration fee?
Registration is free! Bring a copy of your CFAY approval letter or Command letter to provide to the Tickets & Travel office. Registrations are to be completed in person at the Tickets & Travel office.

• May we pick our tree?
The winner of the 2023 Festival of Trees event will be awarded opportunity to pick their tree. Trees are chosen at random thereafter.

• Why do I need to register in person? Can’t I just send an email?
In order to accurate assign trees on a first come first serve basis, this process has been created. As a reminder, there is no charge. However, we need to register you in our system, which requires in person registration at our Travel & Tours office. Please see answer regarding the fee to have a step by step guide as to what is needed to register.

• Is there an age limit to attend?
Fun for all ages. Parent supervision of children is required. No age limit to attend.

• How do I purchase food?
No food or drinks will be provided for purchase. However, light refreshments are provided free of charge.

• Is there a rain date scheduled?
No. This is an indoor event and will continue as planned.

• Who can vote?
Anyone with access to the event can vote. We encourage if you are a participant to not vote. Also to limit your vote to 1 vote per person.

• Is there a cost to attend?
There is no cost to attend.

• Is there registration to schedule pictures with Santa?
No, it is first come first serve. Please note, Santa does require a break to feed his reindeers. Times for photos may vary.

• Is smoking permitted?
No Smoking permitted at this event. Please smoke outside event area.

• My command/organization would like to volunteer for this event, where do we sign up as volunteers?
Email us at MWR_Yokosuka_Special_Events@us.navy.mil. Please provide your command/organization information, event day POC information and how many people plan to volunteer. Letters of appreciation will be provide after the event. Volunteers are also accepted on the day. Visit the MWR info booth on event day for more information.

• Contraband:
I. No items may be left unattended at any time.
II. Personnel who do not wish to have their baggage checked will be turned away. This includes persons carrying large bags, backpacks, etc.
III. No sealed bags or articles unable to be opened will be allowed onto the installation.
IV. Should any guests be found to have in their possession knives, razors, or other small, yet inherently dangerous instruments, they will be turned over to Japanese police for adjudication.
V. Glass bottles are not authorized. Any containers which are not sealed will be discarded with the exception of baby formula which will be inspected to ensure the contents are not harmful.
VI. Spray paint is not authorized.
VII. All other contraband will be brought to the attention of Japanese Police.
VIII. Distribution of commercial flyers or display of banners will require immediate notification to the SECO/ASECO/CPOIC. The flyers and/or banners will be confiscated and the offender will be identified and released to Japanese Police for removal.
IX. No form of electronic/radiological monitoring equipment.
X. Bicycles, roller blades, and skateboards are prohibited for all festival attendees – guests and DoD ID cardholders.
