Step back in time to one of the most dramatic turning points in samurai history! In 1590, the powerful Odawara Hojo clan fell, marking the end of an era just before the dawn of the Edo period. This beginners' hike begins at Yamanaka Castle, where the Hojo clan suffered a decisive defeat, revealing the strategic importance of this historic stronghold.

Next, we’ll explore Ishigakiyama Ichiya Castle, famously known as One Night Castle. Legend has it that the castle was secretly built in the forest, then dramatically revealed by clearing the surrounding trees, making it appear overnight! After discovering the fascinating history and legends of these castle ruins, we’ll head to Shonan-daira for a refreshing short hike and beautiful scenic views.
