Guitar, Ukulele & Shamisen Classes

Monday – Friday • 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. • Yokosuka Community Center
This class introduces children ages 8 and up to the basics of the guitar, ukulele, and shamisen. In a fun and engaging environment that fosters creativity, students will develop a strong foundation in rhythm, coordination, and musical expression.

What Students Will Learn:
• Instrument Basics: How to properly hold and tune each instrument.
• Technical Skills: Proper finger placement and various strumming techniques.
• Music Theory: An introduction to simple notation and chord progressions.
• Songplay: Learning to play simple, recognizable songs across all three instruments.

Shamisen - Explore Traditional Sounds:
In addition to the familiar sounds of the guitar and ukulele, students will explore the Shamisen — a traditional Japanese three-stringed instrument. Often described as a "Japanese-style banjo," it features a distinct, percussive sound that offers a unique cultural and musical experience.
